RECONSTRUCTION OF PRESSURE SORE BY USE OF NONTYPICAL V-Y GLUTEUS MAXIMUS MYOCUTANEOUS FLAP

Abstract
As the pressure sores have been increased by spine injury or other causes, the treatments of pressure sore have been suggested to be important as well as prevention. Fortunately many methods that can completely solve such various problems as recurrence, limited size, insufficient padding and blood supply have been designed and tried by many surgeons and as the result of them, today, the defects of traditional method were made up for by making use of gluteus maximus myocutaneous flap.
Especially non-typical gluteus maximus myocutaneous flap was used in the fashion of V-Y advancement for the defects over the lumbar spinal area, perineal region and trochanteric defects by F. Dirnberger and good results were reported.
Among the twenty cases of sacral, greater trochanteric and upper lumbar sores, we experienced the four cases of V-Y advancement gluteus maximus myocutaneous flap from medial to lateral and from caudal to cranial without complete resection of origin or insertion sites and could obtain excellent result without any other problems. So we report them with the review of the articles.
